The concluding chapter evaluates the overall contribution of the cases included in the book to the study of Non-Territorial Autonomy (NTA), deploying the elements of the "new methodological platform for NTA research" suggested by Tove H. Malloy in the Introduction. The NTA arrangements discussed in the previous chapters are analysed from the perspective of the (1) terminology they use, (2) the ideological background and the main element of justification of the arrangement, (3) the context of adoption and specific objectives followed by the implementing authorities, (4) types of entrenchment, (5) institutional particularities and competences, (6) legitimacy and popular support, and (7) outcomes and level of satisfaction of the members of the target groups. Based on the findings of the various case studies, the relationship between TA and NTA is addressed, as part of an attempt to more accurately define NTA. The chapter concludes with a brief set of advice for policy makers.
